Job Description

Provide English instruction to students in grades 7-12.  There are two positions available at our Jr./Sr. High School.

 New Teacher Induction Program  

Regardless of your level of experience prior to working in Sodus, all non-tenured teachers become members of the New Teacher Induction Program (NTI). This program is managed by the staff developer and is designed to help support new members of the district. There are certain requirements that must be fulfilled throughout the school year. Please remember that these requirements are designed to help you be successful and have a positive experience during what can often be a difficult time. Members remain part of the program until they receive tenure, and each year has a reduction in the required components of the program. 

1. New Teacher Summer Orientation

2. New Teacher Induction Meetings

3. Peer Observation (Year 1 Teachers)

4. Consultations (Year 1 Teachers)

5. Non-evaluative Observations

6. Walk-Through Observations

7. Data-Driven Instructional Data Analysis Response

 

Job Qualifications

• New York State certification in English is required.

• Ability to make a commitment to academic excellence.

• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students and skillfully deliver research-based best practices using a variety of reading interventions.

• Ability to work independently, facilitate group dynamics, exercise good judgment and show initiative.
